Are you aware of the benefits of being able to check your credit reports on line?

If yes, then you probably also realize that your financial credibility is tied to your credit score. Your financial history is very closely tied to your credit score. Unpaid debts, truant settlement of bills, applying for too many credit cards and other acts that can be deemed as financially irresponsible come into play when a financial institution, such as banks, lending agencies or creditors, are reviewing your financial history.

Having your credit card information stolen is bad enough. Sometimes the theft goes unnoticed until your credit card is denied at the register or you receive an eye-popping statement in the mail. However, when the thief adds some unintentional irony to the situation, the crime becomes especially puzzling.

One reader on The Consumerist shared his story of identity theft. Like so many cases, it all started with him noticing an unexpected charge on this credit card statement. In this instance, the charge was from credit bureau Experian. Upon further investigation, it turns out that the woman who stole the readers credit card information purchased credit protection from the credit bureau. The man was given a refund and, hopefully, he canceled his credit card.

Like many stories about identity theft, the victim found out about the crime by paying attention to his credit card statements.

New research has revealed that over a quarter (26 per cent) of Brits expect to owe money on their credit cards throughout 2012, with nearly one in ten (9 per cent) admitting they are relying on their plastic to make ends meet.

The survey also asked people to look at their essential outgoings and bills and say where they felt they could make savings in 2012.  Food shopping and transport costs topped the list with gas and electric close behind.  Only 15 per cent of households felt there was nothing they could do to make savings.

It may be called “The Approved Card,” but it’s being met with mixed approval.

As you probably know, Suze Orman, personal finance guru and star of her own CNBC show, “The Suze Orman Show,” has been in the news a lot this week due to the debut of her new MasterCard prepaid card, The Approved Card. Since the comments range from complimentary to bad enough that you can imagine Orman taking certain people off her holiday card list, I thought I’d take a quick gander at what credit card experts are saying about her new prepaid card.

The smack

I’ll lead off with some comments from Curtis Arnold, founder of CardRatings.com, who told CNN’s Headline News: “I wouldn’t call it groundbreaking. There are other cards with fees and features that are comparable, if not better.” Like what?

I went from working a full time job and holding ends together to becoming a full time student in an accellerated program and not being able to make ends meet at all. Unfortunately, the class schedule is so random no one in their right mind will hire me for a part time job. I have good credit but took out a $ 100,000 student loan to pay for school. Because of that loan I cannot find anyone that will consider lending that. The above mentioned $ 35,000 would be used to pay a few thingscar, credit card, two other student loans, and a couple of other things of that nature. If anyone has any ideas or suggestionsit would be appreciated. Its actually a flight school. You are right though, I cant imagine anyone dishing out 35k for a loan either. Thats why im looking for suggestions. Its actually a flight school. You are right though, I cant imagine anyone dishing out 35k for a loan either.

The couple from California is looking to pay down $49,000 on three credit cards.

The key to the Debt Dash is to attack the debt with the lowest balance first. This serves as a motivator to keep working and not abandon the plan. It is a psychological boost to eliminate debt. If you have two debts of about the same amount, pay off the one with higher interest first. Als
