Labor Day underscores what I and others call the “Credit Score Catch 22.” In fact, Liz Pullman has covered this in her MSN Column .
On Labor Day, we’re supposed to think about the workers of America. (Although, I bet most of us think – sweet a day off!) Yet, few of us will reflect upon our job – unless we don’t have one.
Without a job, it is obviously tough to pay bills. Without paying bills on time, your credit scores can suffer. There’s the Catch 22.
And, it is becoming more common for employers to do credit and background checks – especially if you are applying for a job in the security, or the financial industry.
So, before you apply for a job, check all three credit scores and reports. If you have errors on your three credit reports, clean them up. If you are late on a bill payment, catch up the best you can to avoid a Catch 22.
